GUIDED    PRACTICE

INTENTION

INTROSPECTION

EXTEROSPECTION

EXPRESSION

We are exposed to an overabundance of stimuli and information every day.  Subtle exchanges between inner-body and outer-environment are just beneath the surface of common awareness. As a result, we often understand ourselves as separate from our surroundings. In truth, we are human animals participating in a living ecology - whether built environment or open space. The Field Notes Workbook encourages the widening of attention to include self-reflective and sensory experiences. An innate reciprocity connects each of us to an ecology of place. The goal of this creative practice is to observe and make meaning of these relationships and to enliven a sense of one's self within the web of life.
~
As a place-based practitioner, I acknowledge the social, cultural, spiritual, political, and economic factors that influence
each of our relationships to place.  An individual's accessibility and comfort in a place is a perspective that speaks to the
systems of supremacy. Acknowledgement of these forces is necessary for the integration of this practice.
